Who we are

Gentoo Media is listed on the stock exchanges in Stockholm and Oslo and also has a listed corporate bond. On 30 September 2024, the company completed its split into two independently listed entities and now operates as a standalone public company and pure media business, continuing its journey as a market-leading affiliate in the iGaming industry. The split did impact the previously shared group functions, including Finance and since the split Gentoo Media has built a new finance function to support future growth.

For the financial year 2024, Gentoo Media reported year-on-year revenue growth of approximately 40% and a EBITDA before special items totaling 57.2 million EUR (unaudited).

We are a truly international company, with 400+ people representing 47 nationalities across offices in Copenhagen, Malta, Serbia, Spain, and the UK. The Finance team consists of 35+ colleagues based in Denmark, Serbia, and Malta.

The role

We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Financial Planning and Reporting, with outstanding communication abilities, to strengthen our Finance team and collaborate closely with our Chief Financial Officer.

This is a critical and important leadership role where you will be responsible for rebuilding our closing excellence, leading cross-border finance teams, owning all aspects of financial planning, reporting, compliance, and supporting our international growth journey. With a strategic and proactive approach, you will build, lead, and inspire through honesty, sharp communication, and a firm but positive leadership style.

What you will be doing

• Manage and supervise the Group's Finance teams within our locations +35 people.
• Direct and oversee all financial planning activities, building and scaling the Finance function alongside the CFO.
• Own the preparation and timely submission of statutory annual reports and Group annual reports, ensuring compliance with IFRS and local GAAPs together with the group function.
• Overall responsible for our external reporting including Annual Report and quarterly reports to the market - including relevant audit processes across the Group and ensuring clean and efficient reporting.
• Responsible for our internal reporting and all Group controlling processes and relevant staff. Oversee and improve daily financial operations, delivering operational insights and supporting business efficiency.
• Responsible for the month-end closing process with the Head of Group Accounting, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Develop and control the company’s annual operating budget to meet financial targets and regulatory standards together with the CFO.
• Provide financial advice and strategic guidance to leaders and operational teams- both in finance and other areas.
• Play a key role in investment strategy decisions, assessing cash and liquidity risks.
• Streamline cash forecasting processes and drive initiatives to improve cash flow and working capital optimization (NWC optimization).
• Ensure cash flow strength across the organization and drive proactive cash collection efforts.
• Ensure compliance with all financial, legal, and regulatory obligations, including bond covenants and RCF requirements.
• Develop and implement finance policies, procedures, and control frameworks to guarantee sound financial management.
• Strengthen and monitor risk control and IT control environments in Finance.
• Optimize supplier and external service contracts from a financial perspective.
• Actively participate in strategic projects such as M&A, tax, and system implementations together with the CFO and other C-level executives.
• Maintain and develop a future-ready Finance support function aligned with Gentoo’s growth ambitions.

Who we are looking for

• Extensive leadership experience in operational Finance roles, ideally within a listed company environment or from a Private Equity Portfolio Company within international business environments.
• Strong experience in Finance transformation projects, including understanding of the dynamics of how to build relevant Finance structures from the ground up.
• Commitment to transparency, ethical practices, and maintaining a high-trust work environment.
• Strong capabilities in budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategic planning and business finance
• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to set expectations and drive accountability.
• Experience working with diverse stakeholders across different functions and cultural environments.
• Background in cross-border Finance operations and working within international business environments.
• Solid experience managing cash flow, risk control, IT control frameworks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Proven track record managing internal reporting, external reporting, group consolidation, and leading annual audit processes together with the team in Group Finance.
• Deep understanding of IFRS and international financial regulatory frameworks.
• Highly proactive, open-minded, and focused on delivering strong individual and team results.
• Ability to build, lead, and inspire high-performing teams through a direct yet positive leadership style.
• Strong personal drive, adaptability, and a hands-on approach to operational leadership.
• Previous experience as a senior auditor or Financial Director in mid-sized or larger organizations is a huge plus.
